China’s Ministry of Commerce said at a conference held by the State Council Information Office that compared with the same period in 2019 before the epidemic, the scale of China’s cross-border e-commerce and other new business in the first eight months of this year has increased by 11 times, and green new energy products have become a bright spot for exports.

It was pointed out at the conference that since the beginning of this year, the development of global trade is facing multiple pressures such as low demand, increased trade protection, the debt crisis in developing economies and the spillover of geopolitical influences, which have had a certain impact on China’s foreign trade.
However, China’s foreign trade has shown strong development resilience and innovation vitality. Compared with the same period in 2019 before the epidemic, the scale of China’s imports and exports and the number of foreign trade subjects in the first eight months of this year increased by more than 30%, the proportion of exports to emerging markets increased by nearly 7 percentage points, the scale of cross-border e-commerce and other new business forms increased by 11 times, and green new energy products have become the bright spot of exports.
According to WTO statistics, total global exports in the first half of the year fell by 4.6% year-on-year, a decline 1.4 percentage points deeper than China. China’s global market share reached 14.2%, up 0.4 percentage points from the same period last year.

The Ministry of Commerce will increase trade policy support, ready to introduce a number of policy measures to support trade cooperation in new energy vehicles, support for second-hand car exports, enhance the level of development of processing trade, support the construction of overseas warehouses.
At the same time, it will strengthen the development of international markets, organize key exhibitions, further optimize visa policies, better facilitate the movement of business people, and give full play to the trade promotion role of embassies and consulates abroad.
It will increase export credit support for foreign trade enterprises, especially small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises, and further expand the scale and coverage of export credit insurance. It will insist on opening up to the outside world at a high level and accelerate the construction of a network of high-standard free trade zones to inject more momentum into the global economic recovery.
