For the first time, China surpassed the United States to become the largest source of cross-border e-commerce imports in South Korea. This is another recent example of the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce in China.
Data from the Ministry of Commerce showed that in 2023, China’s cross-border e-commerce imports and exports amounted to 2.38 trillion yuan, up 15.6 percent year-on-year. Among them, exports amounted to 1.83 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%.

Bringing China closer to the world
Cross-border e-commerce has brought China closer to the world by accelerating the pace of Chinese products going overseas while allowing more Chinese products to be integrated into the clothing, food, housing and transportation of foreign consumers.
Cross-border e-commerce enables companies to reach global consumers directly, respond quickly to market changes and drive product innovation.
