Cross-border e-commerce has become a new engine for the high-quality development of foreign trade due to its rapid development, large market potential and strong driving effect. In the first half of the year, China’s cross-border e-commerce import and export to maintain a good momentum of development, and effectively help China’s foreign trade to stabilize the scale and excellent structure. Enterprise exploration, policy assistance, multi-measures, will open up a broader space for the development of cross-border e-commerce.
Cross-border e-commerce is developing at a fast pace, with large market potential and strong driving force, capable of matching supply and demand at low cost and high efficiency, and providing personalized and high-quality services to more enterprises and end-consumers. In recent years, China’s cross-border e-commerce development has made promising progress.
Data from the Ministry of Commerce shows that the proportion of import and export of cross-border e-commerce goods in foreign trade has risen from less than 1% five years ago to about 5% at present.
Cross-border e-commerce is transforming from a new mode of foreign trade to a new normal of foreign trade. The current development of cross-border e-commerce presents three major trends:
First, the normalization of cross-border e-commerce market demand. Domestic and international online consumption habits have been formed, laying a market foundation for the development of cross-border e-commerce.
Second, the institutionalization of cross-border e-commerce rules. Cross-border e-commerce related multi-bilateral rules have been continuously improved, providing an institutional guarantee for the development of cross-border e-commerce.
Third, the rise of cross-border e-commerce independent station mode. In the last two years, the private domain traffic pattern has emerged in the field of e-commerce, and brand enterprises have established independently operated mobile applications online to directly reach users. The development mode of cross-border e-commerce has shifted to a development situation in which the platform mode and the independent station mode coexist, creating a new growth point for the development of cross-border e-commerce.
With the continuous development of cross-border e-commerce, overseas warehouses and other supporting new business accelerate the improvement. Directly facing consumers also means faster response time. Cross-border e-commerce export overseas warehouse has become an important channel and growth momentum for cross-border e-commerce enterprises to export due to the flexible operation advantages of advance stocking, bulk transportation and local return.
Consumers abroad can have their orders placed on the platform shipped directly from overseas warehouses, which is a better shopping experience and helpful for improving word-of-mouth and visibility. Driven by policies such as comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones, China’s cross-border e-commerce ecosystem is improving.
