Cross-border e-commerce has become a new bright spot in China’s foreign trade and global economy and trade. China’s cross-border e-commerce enterprises have exceeded 120,000, crossing a new stage of development.

The overall scale of China’s cross-border e-commerce has grown from small to large, from large to excellent, and has become a living force in the development of China’s foreign trade.2024 In the first quarter of 20124, the import and export of cross-border e-commerce amounted to 577.6 billion yuan, with an increase of 9.6%, of which 448 billion yuan was exported, with an increase of 14%.

At present, the number of cross-border e-commerce enterprises in China has exceeded 120,000, and cross-border e-commerce enterprises have accumulated more than 30,000 registered trademarks overseas. Over the past five years, the scale of China’s cross-border e-commerce trade has grown more than 10 times.

In recent years, cross-border e-commerce and overseas warehouses and other new foreign trade infrastructure synergistic linkage, rapid development, growth potential, driven by a strong role. In order to help cross-border e-commerce, overseas warehouses and other new forms of foreign trade to develop in a healthy and orderly manner, a series of related specific initiatives will be launched intensively in the near future.
Not long ago, “on the expansion of cross-border e-commerce exports to promote the construction of overseas warehouses of the views” to consider the adoption of which, the main body of the cultivation, talent training, brand building, financial support, empowerment of the industry chain has become the main key words.
The Ministry of Commerce said that it will promote the introduction of “opinions on expanding cross-border e-commerce exports to promote the development of overseas warehouses” as soon as possible to optimize and improve the policy system; promote cross-border e-commerce to empower the industrial chain; and promote the revision and introduction of the “cross-border e-commerce intellectual property rights protection guide”, and continue to deepen international cooperation.
It is understood that by the end of 2023, the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, has issued more than 200 support policies and replicated nearly 100 mature experiences and practices. The comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones have organized nearly 10,000 docking sessions, forums, salons, training and other activities, with more than 100,000 professional trainings.

Cross-border e-commerce boosts “digitalization” of industrial zones
From 2015, when China set up its first comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zone to now, in less than a decade, 165 comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones have been set up across the country. Recently, localities have combined their advantageous industries to accelerate the construction of comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones, so that the new kinetic energy can stimulate the new vitality of the industry.

Not long ago, Suzhou City, an important manufacturing base, issued a “three-year action plan”, proposing the high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce pilot zones, support for traditional manufacturing, foreign trade enterprises, domestic e-commerce enterprises to go to sea, and cultivate cross-border e-commerce business main body of 15,000 by 2026, 10,000 private brands to go to sea.
